Dropping today along with Patch 4.0.0, Hero, from Dragon Quest, makes his Super Smash Bros debut. I haven’t had the chance to try him out yet, but judging from the internet’s collective reaction, he seems to be a fun character use. Especially with that critical hit mechanic of his.
As for the 4.0.0 patch, there won’t be any updates to the roster, meaning Robin is going to have to remain in obscurity for a little while longer, but it will bring some new features to the game. Those include:
- I time limit to how long you can maintain the fully charged Final Smash meter. This will prevent being camped out by some one with a jank ruleset in Elite Smash.
- Spectator mode will once again allow you to wager on the outcome of matches. The points you get can be used in World of Light, but unfortunately coins won’t be making a return though. We’ll have to wait and see if Nairo decides to bring back “Nairo Bet’s it all!”
- An online Tourney Mode! The rulesets will change periodically, but you’ll get thrown into a tournament with a bunch of random players. We’ll have to wait and see how well this actually works though. I can already imagine all the people quitting mid-bracket because they have to wait for two people to finish their match while spamming projectile specials at each other. But who know’s, maybe it’ll be a pleasant surprise.
There’s a few other new editions, like a “very easy” difficulty when playing adventure mode. But obviously the main thing to be excited about here is the release of Hero.
Who’s Next?
Now that Hero is here, the next fighter, or fighters in this case, are the long awaited Banjo and Kazooie, who’ll be dropping at some point in the fall.
