Final Fantasy VII Remake helped kicked off the 2019 Tokyo Game Show today, showing off new details during its gameplay presentation. Starting off, game producer, Yoshinori Kitase, revealed an optional “Classic” mode for turn-based combat. Aside from the “Standard” action RPG combat revealed during this years E3 presentation, “Classic” will give players the option to experience the combat as it originally played 22 years ago.
Translated by the game’s official twitter account: “In standard modes, the ATB Gauge fills up by repeatedly attacking your enemy, but in Classic Mode this aspect of gameplay is handled automatically. The player does not need to do anything and the character fights automatically, charging up their ATB Gauge.”
So far, FF7R is looking to be quite ambitious. Fans worried about the new gameplay should be happy to hear about Classic mode. Giving players the option to play the game as they please is huge, showing they haven’t forgotten their original audience.
You can check out the entire recap from the Tokyo Game Show in the Twitter thread above. Besides the combat, some other things they showed include one of the game’s boss fights.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will be available on March 3, 2020
