A new trailer dropping some pretty cool updates on Pokemon Sword and Shield was released yesterday. Amongst those updates, the internet is going wild over Linoone’s newest evolution, Obstagoon, looking a lot like Gene Simmons.
The newest evolution to the Zigzagoon family is exclusive to its new Galarian form. This also means that Pokemon other than those from Kanto are going to start getting regional variants, it’ll be interesting to see which other Pokemon were chosen. The new evolution wasn’t the only Pokemon shown off. Weezing now has a Galarian form as well, with the absolutely bonkers typing of poison/fairy, tied up nicely with the ability Levitate.
As well as new Pokemon, we also got a look into the new rivals, Bede and Marnie. Both of them look like a step back from the friendly rival types that’ve been the norm in recent games. Bede especially is giving off some serious Blue vibes, and I look forward to that. Finally, the trailer introduced us to the villainous team of the region, or in this case, troublesome might be a better word to describe them. The team consists of Marnie’s fanbase, and they’re goal is to do whatever it takes to see Marnie become champion of Galar. While I’m not sure how I feel about their motives, it’s definitely a creative take on the usual Pokemon formula.
Some News Not in the Trailer. PokeJobs!
While everyone’s eyes were on the trailer, the Pokemon twitter account had some news of its own. There’s a new feature known as PokeJobs, and it’s exactly what it sounds like. In the Galar region, corporations and schools hire Pokemon for labor, allowing trainers to make a quick buck on their journeys.
While money has never been an issue in Pokemon games, it’s nice to see there will finally be use for the Pokemon stashed in your PC. Send them out to make money! Probably from a guy who looks like Galarian Weezing.
