By “Will you crease yourself and be reborn, like me?” Not the kind of dialogue you’d expect coming from a Mario game, but it’s what kicks off the interesting new trailer for Paper Mario: The Origami King.
Nintendo surprised fans this morning with an out of nowhere announcement for a new game in the Paper Mario series. Even more surprising than the trailer, however, is that Paper Mario: The Origami King is slated to release very soon. July 17th, 2020 to be exact.
In a series known for traditional RPG combat and its unique, paper cut-out art style, Paper Mario: The Origami King will be bringing some twists. The game introduces a new ring-based battle system where how much damage you take and deal is dependent on how you line up your enemies.
Speaking of enemies, the new origami art they have looks exceptionally clean. It’s everything we’ve come to expect from Nintendo games and then some. And I wouldn’t mind if Nintendo released origami figures of some of the characters. Origami Peach amiibo, anyone?
